White Picket Fences: Update: My Resolutions
Array I started reading Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age of Anxiety by Judith Warner, and ended up buying it.I wouldn’t have bought the book if I hadn’t spent some time reading it, as it is about the kind of mothering I feel vaguely guilty about not doing, such as trying to plan the perfect birthday party (in our house the key rule was no home birthday parties because we can’t clean up the house in time). The author’s analysis (at least as I see it 60 pages into the book) is that women who grew up believing the feminist battles were already won assumed that everything depended not on social change but on making the right private choices for themselves and their families and therefore gave those choices unbearable weight.Saved by feminism yet again.

-ne Expose the Left has the video60 Minutes blames Denmark for the irrational, over-reaction to cartoons by Muslims.Cause, you can not blame the Lying Imams. They can spread all the hate and lies - inciting the violence - but they can not be blamed, that would offend them.The useful idiots at CBS strike again. They threaten people, they attack people who do that.So CBS News takes the cowardly way and seeks to appease the thugs.

-ne Okay - so now I am really STOKED (as my son would say)!!! I am super excited about doing a show - of my masks - which will mean making a bunch of new pieces (as I only have 3 masks on hand that aren’t spoken for). If the gallery wants 60% commission, and my selling price is 00.00 - that makes the gallery price for the piece 20.00. Plus - this is the first time I’ve ever had a gallery approach me to do a show. And don’t get me wrong - the Artworks folks sound very nice, and one of the art school business partners has his work in the gallery.Whew! And after spending most of President’s Day working on the masks, I have band-aids on three fingers - both thumbs and my ring finger!

Actually, I now know that exactly 40 more shots were fired.((NEWS FLASH - I just got news that there was an explosion in Balata, and 4 peramedics have been shot and are injured, I will update as soon as I can))Ok, back to the cabby, who happens to be a close friend of my families, and is like 60 years old!!He is living though, my brother just got back from the hospital and he is gonna make it, they can’t take the bullet out of his shoulder though, it could be to risky of an opperation for him. He just knew because this happens all the time, that when you get too close they get on their loud speaker and say GET BACK GET BACK so you gotta turn around anyway, I guess he looked suspicious when he turned his lights off…NOTE TO SELF - Do not leave your house when soldiers are ANYWHERE in the city…

They include:Increase annual sales by 40%.Increase sales at the national stationery show by 50%.Design on a more regular basis so that my scheduled releases are not last minute.Do a better job of updating my website with current news and new releases.Get a separate retail site up and running by march 2006. I also believe in setting goals that are a little bit more of a challenge than the key goals I have set above. My stretch goals for the year are:Increase annual sales by 60%Increase sales at the national stationery show by 65%Increase number of new product releases from 5 to 6 per yearWhat advice would you give to someone starting a creative business?

-ne Bridget wondered the other day how I’m doing with my resolutions. So here they are and here’s how I’m doing:PhysicalLose 10 pounds.Well, I’ve lost 3 pounds so I guess I’m not doing too bad for this one, if I’m giving myself the entire year to get it done.MentalGet out of debt.
